Orchids and a Street Scene

I’m happy to report that the Royal Orchid Hotel takes its name seriously! There are beautiful orchids all around. The third picture above is of a mirror beside the elevator; it has holes for tubular flower holders, so the orchids extend out from the mirror with beautiful effect.

And here are some scenes from my first walk outside the hotel (at lunch time today).

The man in the blue shirt is Abeyo Abraha, a colleague in the TGC program. He’s talking to a man who’s sitting in a kind of 4 x 4 x 4 foot shop selling a leafy concoction that’s not legal in the U.S. Abeyo is from Ethiopia, though he’s lived in Greensboro for 20 years. He’s a great resource for figuring out what’s going on around us!

I’m eager to figure out a better way of sizing and laying out the images in these posts, but I’m working on an i-pad, and I haven’t found all the tools I need. More soon!

    Hi Tina,

I’m Chris and I’m a level K-12 fail. So glad the Royal Orchid Hotel lived up to its name, and on the outside chance that the city you’re in lives up to its name, well, please take lots of photos.
